Inspired by Ariel from The Little Mermaid, because if you’re going to stop being a magical mermaid, you might as well wear a cute underwater inspired outfit with great shoes, because, I mean, you gave up your existence as an ethereal being for legs & feet, the sacrifice has to be repaid somehow…
So I know this movie is the prime example of sexism & gender roles found in the Disney catalog, but I kind of love it. It’s the most adorable thing ever & yes Ariel’s a stupid bitch for leaving Atlantis to be with Prince Eric, but at least she hung out with him, like twice, before she married him, unlike some princesses: Snow White, Sleeping Beauty. The movie’s gorgeous with it’s marine color scheme & underwater inhabitants; I mean, everyone loves Flounder & Sebastian & Ursula is the best Disney villain ever as she exploits Ariel’s hopes & dreams. And you have to appreciate the movie because of its animators, I mean, it has to be hard to add all of those phallic details into random frames.
